A Milestone: BBI Village Groundbreaking

BBI celebrates a milestone with the groundbreaking of BBI Village in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

On September 9, 2023, BBI marked a historic milestone with the groundbreaking of BBI Village in the Middle River section of Fort Lauderdale. This event celebrated a significant step towards homeownership, community engagement, and growth.

The BBI Village groundbreaking is a six-year journey from an innovative partnership between nonprofit, corporate, and government partners. This 20-home community will provide affordable homeownership to almost 100 Broward residents East of I-95, where affordable homeownership is desperately needed.

This community has been made possible thanks to a lead gift by BBI and the leadership of our CEO, Robert Taylor.

Dignitaries at the event included Senator Rosalind Osgood, Representative Chip LaMarca, Broward Mayor Lamar Fisher, Vice Mayor and Commissioner Pamela Beasley-Pittman, Habitat Board members, members of the community, and home sponsors.

BBI Village has also received generous financial support from the City of Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida, and the Florida Department of Commerce funds appropriation sponsored by Representative LaMarca and Senator Osgood.

The community is conveniently located near city centers, schools, churches, recreational and shopping amenities, with easy access to transportation and major traffic corridors.

Construction is projected to begin before the end of the year, and homes are expected to close in mid/late 2024.
